3 careers for People Who Love to Write

Many writers have fancied themselves making good money from a career in writing but in most cases, such dreams do not come to pass. However, there are some other writers who genuinely love to spend time creating new pieces and actually go on to pursue a career that is fully inclined to writing jobs from home. Let us take a look at three writing careers you could begin to chase.

  1. Screenwriting-Every great film that has ever made box office success has a great script behind it. Think Avengers: infinity war, Titanic, Bridge of Spies, The Big Short, Deadpool and a host of other films: these films all existed in the mind of a Screenwriter  (or a group of screen writers) before they became a reality. If you are a highly creative writer, you could move towards joining the movie industry as a Screenwriter. This would require you to learn the rubrics of writing scripts and internalize lessons from seasoned screenwriters such as Quentin Tarantino (writer of Kill Bill series and Inglorious Bastards), James Cameron  (writer of Aliens, Terminator, Avatars and Titanic). After you may have brushed up your knowledge of how to write a screenplay, the next stage is for you to begin writing. Write scripts that are complex and hold no bounds to human understanding like Inception, or a simple love story between a giant and a child. After writing the scripts, the next step will be to ensure that they are pitched to the right quarters in Hollywood, which includes movie directors, actors and Actresses. You may also have to research how to pitch your script to anyone so that you can tick the right boxes on your way to bringing your script into a high grossing box office successful reality.
  2. Columnist-Have you ever fancied yourself in a career where you constantly pitch in your words at reputable news organizations and make money from that? As a thesis writer, you may send in you works to students, but being a Columnist is exactly what that career entails. Some of the most successful Columnists include Maureen Dowd, Malcom Muggeridge, Mike Royko (who wrote more than 7500 daily columns over thirty years) and others. Being a great columnist can lead you to win the Pulitzer prize for commentary as well as making good money. To begin, you should choose a writing niche where you would be able to write with ease and groom yourself to become better. After getting a distinct niche, the next is to begin to write your opinion on specific trends, topics, innovations and gossips as well. While writing, you can begin to send in your opinions to local as well as popular news organizations. At the onset of this career, you may not be earning the high amounts that you envisioned but you will be getting the needed recognition and the pay will steadily rise over the years. The beneficial aspect of this career is the flexibility of time that you have, and spare time that can be used to pursue other hobbies as well as a spare business.
  3. Social Media Manager- The world has become a global village where everyone who wishes to connect, has an online presence. The same is applicable to businesses, brands and other organizations that intend to get new followers, clients as well as better publicity. In order to achieve these lofty goals, they will all need to have highly appealing and very engaging social media platforms where they will communicate with new customer base. Such social media platforms include LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and others. Generally most of these organizations may not have employees who are well versed in writing: that is where you come in. You can build a career by writing for the social media pages of various brands and then getting paid for it. The highly beneficial aspect of this career is that you could confidently manage the portfolios of more than two companies at the same time with the use of great scheduling applications such as Hootsuite.

There is absolutely no paucity of careers that are available for any writer at any given time. You could decide to become an independent author like JK Rowling and have your work transformed into a script for a film, or you could take up a job as a magazine writer. Nevertheless, the most vital thing you should note is that you may encounter a slow start in the career as you are building. However, success is guaranteed when you stick to the career.

Tips On How To Get Into Human Resources

Becoming a human resource manager stands out as a highly attractive process. This is a position that offers positive work environment, high pay and the possibility of making a true, direct difference in the work lives of people. The career is a really rewarding one since every single industry in the world needs to have human resources staff. Kevin Rolle has high experience with this and mentions some things that should be known by those that want to get into HR. His advice, mentioned below, will surely help.

Review The HR Resume

HR is quite faceted. There are different job responsibilities and job types that exist. Because of this, one of the important things to do is to consider personal experiences and background. It is possible you already have some skills that are valuable in HR, like working well in a team, strong critical thinking and the ability to actively resolve conflicts. Employers often look for such things when they hire. As the resume is crafted, build it in a way to properly highlight the way in which these skills will help the organization reach overall objectives. You can also focus on how employees can be made happier.

Rounding Out HR Skill Sets

As you review the resume you can easily figure out if there are some weakness areas you need to deal with. Analyze HR job descriptions and see what the employers now look for. When you fall short in some parts, you can build up the skills in various ways, including:

  • Volunteering– This always looks great on a resume but you need to take it one step further and actually find those volunteering options that build up on the required skills.
  • Advanced study– All ongoing learning efforts develop relevant skills and knowledge. This makes you a better candidate for future positions. Getting masters degrees and advancing your study through other channels should be considered to improve current skills.
  • Relationships – Learning about relationships is a skill that basically relates to people dynamic and how people are handling work.

Build Your Human Resources Network

When you volunteer your network grows as you get to meet people that know you help. When you get hired for any job, another contact is created. This is how networking starts. The connections that you build will help you to find opportunities faster and get good recommendations.

Remember that social media is also really useful these days when you need to build a network. It is always a good idea to join online HR communities in order to talk to others. Being active in these groups will help you make more connections and will establish a presence.

Be Open

When you want to get an HR job but you cannot actually get one, it is time to look for smaller opportunities. A great way to get into the industry is through internships. They add really valuable real-world experience that will always be seen with good eyes by employers. Understanding HR is very important so when you prove that you can do this, you identify yourself as an asset.

4 Ways for Freelancers to Keep Busy During Quiet Spells

One of the beauties of working for yourself is that you decide what hours you keep. You’re not tied down to set working hours, and you can sit in your PJs all day if you like. But what do you do when you come across those inevitable dry spells when the clients aren’t sending you work, and your application emails aren’t getting any responses?

Here are four useful tips for keeping freelancers busy during the quiet periods, some of which have the potential to keep money coming in when the work has dried up:

Guest Blogging

One of the best ways to keep those fingers typing during quiet spells is to write guest blogs for websites. These websites are great for generating traffic for your own website as most sites will allow you to add links in the bio, and if you’re extra lucky, they may even pay you for your troubles. To find websites that accept guest blogs, head to Google and type the name of the niche or subject you want to write for, followed by phrases like ‘write a post,’ ‘guest post’ or ‘write for us.’ You should find that plenty of opportunities for guest posting will become available to you.

Launch a Podcast

It’s interesting that, with all the technological advances in TV and with video content being so easy to produce, radio has made such a huge comeback in the form of podcasting. Almost every niche has a variety of podcasts available, and if you have something to say about a particular subject, why not create one yourself? It may take a while to build an audience, but if you do, it could become extremely lucrative, especially if advertisers come calling.

Online Gaming and Betting

If you’re into sports and online games, you can take advantage of any gaps in your work schedule and have a little gamble. You could spend your free time enjoying a fun casino game while getting that unmistakable buzz from having a bet on the latest football match. Unibet is a great site to visit as they have the best of both worlds, and their football blog covers all areas of the game, making your gambling options less risky than they otherwise might be. Check out their football blog here: https://www.unibet.co.uk/blog/football. If you’re a freelancer who writes about sport and online gaming, you’ll have a gateway into that world, and you’ll be able to write with depth and experience.

Networking

When freelancers aren’t busy, it can be easy to start procrastinating. After all, there’s always something good to watch on Netflix. However, it pays to keep busy and to get away from the laptop screen now and then, and to kill two birds with one stone; you can find new clients too by heading to networking events in your local area. Conduct a search on Google or social media and see what is available on those quiet days, and see if you can get down there and mingle. You never know, your next long-term client could be waiting to meet someone like you, so don’t miss out.

The Best Jobs for Certified Nursing Assistants

For anyone looking to enter nursing at an entry-level position, becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant can have you quickly working while studying to advance your career in the field. Whether you simply want to remain in a less-demanding job or are looking to work your way up to becoming an RN or an FNP eventually, getting CNA Certification Training is where you’ll need to begin. Are you wondering where you could work with this kind of certification? Here are the best jobs in the field you might want to explore.

1. Hospitals

It is true that most hospitals around the country are understaffed and in crisis. LPNs and RNs are desperately needed and so they are often overloaded with duties. In an effort to save money and to fill the gap left by the crisis level shortage of nurses, many hospitals pay CNAs well and with a decent benefits package. If you are looking to get your foot in the door with the hopes of one day becoming a nurse yourself, this is a great place to start.

2. Nursing Homes/Assisted Living Facilities

Most nursing homes and assisted living facilities hire qualified CNAs to see to the daily care of residents. While nurses typically assess the residents’ health daily, it is the CNA who will ultimately see to the care of the patients. They will be tasked with helping them bathe and see to their personal hygiene, as well as helping to change bedding or with feeding patients unable to feed themselves. CNAs work closely with patients and because of this, are highly valued by administration and residents’ families as well.

3. Doctor’s Offices and Clinics

Some doctors’ offices and clinics staff both CNAs and Medical Assistants, but some hire one or the other. Duties may overlap, and this is why many clinics hire the type of professional most in need. If you wonder what you will actually be doing as a CNA in a doctor’s office, check with your advisor at the school you’ve chosen to work for.

4. Home Healthcare Agencies

Home healthcare is big business in this country, especially as Boomers continue to reach senior years. For those patients not bad enough to require hospitalization or residency in an assisted living facility, CNAs enable them to remain at home where they are more comfortable. The current thrust of healthcare is the quality of life a patient is able to live. Certified Nursing Assistants help them be as active and well-cared for as possible, so that they can live with the quality of life they so deserve.

While there are other jobs CNAs can apply for, these are not only the most common but the best entry-level positions in the field of nursing. As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will not only be working in the field, but you will also be gaining knowledge and experience you will need when furthering your education if you choose to do so. If you enjoy working with people, this is a great career for you.

Why to Become a Teaching Assistant

There are so many jobs out there, so when one is choosing a career, it can be a bit overwhelming. Are they ready to commit to one? What if they don’t like it? What if they have trouble finding work in it? There are a lot of things to worry about when it comes to this, and a lot of the time people are not fully educated on what jobs are out there. One that people might not hear about quite as much is becoming a teaching assistant, which can be quite a wonderful job. What is great about becoming a teaching assistant? There are many different things and here are a few of them.

It is fun.

There is so much fun in getting to be a teaching assistant. For one, they get to spend time with children all day, so for those that like spending time with kids, this is a great job. They get to somewhat experience what it is like to be a teacher without the entire workload. They may get to do fun activities like monitor lunch and recess. They’ll often grade papers or lead simple classroom exercises, run errands for the teacher, or help answer questions. Each day will be new and exciting, and there will always be something new to look forward to. When the kids do something fun, the teachers get to do something fun too.

It is often flexible.

Want a flexible work schedule? Then this is the job to have. Teacher’s assistants don’t always come in every day, and this can make the schedule flexible to one’s needs. This will entirely depend on the school, so it is good to know ahead of time, but in the right place, it can be flexible. And who doesn’t want a flexible job?

The pay is decent.

While everyone knows that being a teacher isn’t the highest paying job, it is enough to get by on. It is the same as being a teacher’s assistant. The pay is plenty to pay the bills with some extra. With the job being fun and the pay being decent, what else could one want? With criteria like this, it is a job that everyone should consider, as long as they like children. There are so many good parts of it.

The breaks are convenient.

Speaking of good parts, this is another one. Who doesn’t love breaks from work, even if the job is fun? One of the best parts of being a teacher’s assistant is that the breaks are for the most part the same as the student’s breaks. That includes a summer break.

One can complete their degree online.

Training for it can be easy. There are level 2 teaching assistant courses that can be completed online within a couple of years from institutes such as Brighter Learning. It’s definitely a job to consider, since getting the degree for it can be so simple with the right tools for the job.
